Day 2 of 21

>> Tuesday, January 27, 2009

Weight: 134.5
Lost so far: 1.5

7am: Liquid berry (Garden of Greens) & water, 4oz veggie juice
Didn’t sleep so well – I woke up several times but at least the kids weren’t up. I need to get up earlier so I’m prepared for the day. John nearly missed his bus as I was blending stuff, and then Donal got on my case - I was a little distracted I suppose. But good to see the scale have 1.5 lbs off….that is a nice start and will help keep me focused.

8:30am: 16oz veggie juice
Good news is that I don’t seem to have a headache but am feeling a bit hungry.

9:30am: Herbal tea
Much more focused than yesterday. Feeling good….

10:20am: Very berry drink
Much tastier when blended...like a smoothie.

11am: Water

12noon: Veggie soup
Cheated again but I added water so the soup was more broth-like. Can’t see how midday soup would hurt as the menu calls for midday juice so soup should be ok also. The smell coming from the pantry kitchen are killing me…..

1pm: More detox tea
Easily distracted and spending a lot of time in the bathroom…

2pm: Green drink
Still tastes bad, but is better blended than just mixed. Much prefer my own veggie juice to this…

3pm: Water
Feeling good, if just a little hungry...

4pm: Very berry drink
Yum. Still yearning for real food…the worst is when you go home and everyone is having dinner.

6pm: Green drink
Not very hungry so having green drink while feeding the baby.

7pm: Veggie soup
Hungry now – I think I know why they save the soup for the evening…its so you can make it through the night!

8pm: 15 min workout
Feel better for doing an easy workout. I'm doing the evening chores but surprisingly I don’t feel as tired as I normally would at this time of the evening.

9:30pm: Bedtime with peppermint tea
OK bed time again.

Day 2 down, hopefully we’ll see results tomorrow…

Detox Supplies

Juice of the Day

Carrot, Apple & Ginger

You will need: 1 apple, 3-4 carrots, and a slice of ginger.

Juice the apple and carrots and ginger slice in the juicer. Serve immediately!

Delicious!

This is a juice that I use as a baseline for other juices. To add more "power" try adding the following ingredients:

- Stick of Celery
- Handful of Alfalfa sprouts
- Some kale, spinach, other leafy greens

Soup of the Day - the healthy way!

Butternut Squash & Orange Juice

Split a butternut squash down the middle, and scoop out the seeds and set aside. Wash & dry and place on a baking tray. Place a tablespoon of orange juice in the cavity. Cover with foil and bake in a 375 deg. oven for about 45 mins - 1 hr. Test the flesh with a fork - when its soft, its done! Meanwhile, while the squash is cooking, wash the seeds, removing fibers of flesh, and place on a baking tray to dry. Remove baked squash from the oven and allow to cool. Pour the OJ into a blender, and scoop out all of the flesh into the blender, discarding the skins. Puree the squash, and then pour into a saucepan. Add about 6 cups of distilled or spring water (do not use tap water, as it contains chlorine etc which defeats your healthy mission). Bring to the boil and its ready to eat!

When the seeds have dried, bake them in the oven for 30 mins until roasted. Sprinkle on top of the soup and serve.

Enjoy!
