Day 1 of 21

>> Monday, January 26, 2009

Weight: 136

8am: Juice – 4 carrots, 3 celery, 1 beet, 1 apple
How I feel: OK, ready to start; need to write my shopping list…

9:20am: 3 herbal cleansing tables, Glass of water
How I feel: Little hungry, not prepared….need to get organized

10:26am: Glass green juice
How I feel: Better organized – made colonics appointment for Wed at 5:30pm. Called Donal and told him that I had started detoxing, and to count me out for dinner...

10:49am: Herbal tea
Took measurements: Waist 37, bum 40, upper thigh 23.5

12:30pm: Veggie Soup, 3 herbal cleansing tables

How I feel: OK so I’m cheating (already) but I’m not sure how I’d get by without any mid-day soup…I will bring broth to work tomorrow.

1:30pm: Herbal tea
How I feel: Feeling a little lightheaded, hard to focus, hopefully that will pass…

2:22pm: Green berry drink (Garden of Green supplements from http://www.mvdietdetox.com/ kit)
How I feel: Yum…better than the green carrot and apple drink

2:50pm: Herbal tea

4pm: Green drink
How I feel: Yuck. Ok, am feeling like I need some food. Lightheaded, distracted. I really hope this feeling passes….

6:30pm: Veggie soup – a bit more substance than the diet calls for but hey, it’s still veggie and its soup….
How I feel: Very proud that I did not cave into Donal’s yummy looking pasta. To make it extra difficult, he had cooked a desert that smelled divine. How often do we have dessert on a Monday night?? Strange coincidence…..but I didn’t break. I even had to clean up the dishes and make the kids lunches. And so, I’m all prepared for tomorrow. Day 1 down. Got a headache and I’m a bit wiped out but given that we had 2 kids up last night, that’s not so strange…

Evening: Aloe vera & water, Cup of herbal tea
Off to bed by 10pm. Wrecked and still have a headache!

Detox Supplies

Juice of the Day

Carrot, Apple & Ginger

You will need: 1 apple, 3-4 carrots, and a slice of ginger.

Juice the apple and carrots and ginger slice in the juicer. Serve immediately!

Delicious!

This is a juice that I use as a baseline for other juices. To add more "power" try adding the following ingredients:

- Stick of Celery
- Handful of Alfalfa sprouts
- Some kale, spinach, other leafy greens

Soup of the Day - the healthy way!

Butternut Squash & Orange Juice

Split a butternut squash down the middle, and scoop out the seeds and set aside. Wash & dry and place on a baking tray. Place a tablespoon of orange juice in the cavity. Cover with foil and bake in a 375 deg. oven for about 45 mins - 1 hr. Test the flesh with a fork - when its soft, its done! Meanwhile, while the squash is cooking, wash the seeds, removing fibers of flesh, and place on a baking tray to dry. Remove baked squash from the oven and allow to cool. Pour the OJ into a blender, and scoop out all of the flesh into the blender, discarding the skins. Puree the squash, and then pour into a saucepan. Add about 6 cups of distilled or spring water (do not use tap water, as it contains chlorine etc which defeats your healthy mission). Bring to the boil and its ready to eat!

When the seeds have dried, bake them in the oven for 30 mins until roasted. Sprinkle on top of the soup and serve.

Enjoy!
