Money for Nothing, and your Juice for free...

In this economy can you afford not to detox?

How much do you spend daily on:

- Daily Coffee
- Sodas, other drinks
- Breakfast to go?
- Lunch
- Snacks

What do you spend on OTC medicines? Personal body products?

What if you could eliminate these expenses, and get healthy at the same time?

So, just how do you go about getting healthy and saving money?

- Eliminate the cost of breakfast bagels and coffee with Hodgson Mill Multi Grain with Milled Flaxseed and Soy Cereal. Add some fruit. Its filling, nutritious and has lots of fiber. Add herbal tea to your morning ritual rather than coffee. Try Yogi Tea Ginkgo IQ to "Clarify for your mind".

- Stock up on fresh vegetables (see juice blogs for recipes) - and juice a pint of juice on a daily basis (or every 2nd day, juicing enough for 2 days supply). Take to work and have instead of a coffee when you get to your desk.

- Stock up on salads - fresh lettuce (use heads of lettuce not bagged), celery, cucumber, tomatoes, avocado, red and green peppers, sprouts - and make up a salad daily for lunch. Add a small spoon of Balsamic Vinegar mixed with a tablespoon of Organic Flax Oil with Omega-3. Yum. And filling too.

- Add a cup of fruit or 2 as a snack. Buy watermelon, cantaloupe, melon or pineapple and cut up so its easy to take to work as a snack.

- Make fresh vegetable soups on the weekend, or your day off, and freeze or store in the refrigerator for easy dinners in the evening. Make a vegetarian chili in your crock pot, and have a hot dinner when you arrive home. Freeze the rest for easy hassle-free dinners.

If you do the detox, your appetite will be smaller, so you'll need less food - after a 21 day detox, and 5 week's later, I'll have 1/2 portions rather than the usual adult portion size.

Eliminating toxins from your system has one other benefit (see blog on 5 reasons to detox) - if you have no toxins, you sweat less, therefore you need less body products. You'll find yourself having a couple of chemical free/safe for your body products, rather than the stock of products that you once needed.

Someone recently told me "I can't afford to eat healthy". My 2 cents... how can you afford not to...?

Take a chance on yourself, and try the 21 day detox. It will change your life, if you will let it.

Detox Supplies

Juice of the Day

Carrot, Apple & Ginger

You will need: 1 apple, 3-4 carrots, and a slice of ginger.

Juice the apple and carrots and ginger slice in the juicer. Serve immediately!

Delicious!

This is a juice that I use as a baseline for other juices. To add more "power" try adding the following ingredients:

- Stick of Celery
- Handful of Alfalfa sprouts
- Some kale, spinach, other leafy greens

Soup of the Day - the healthy way!

Butternut Squash & Orange Juice

Split a butternut squash down the middle, and scoop out the seeds and set aside. Wash & dry and place on a baking tray. Place a tablespoon of orange juice in the cavity. Cover with foil and bake in a 375 deg. oven for about 45 mins - 1 hr. Test the flesh with a fork - when its soft, its done! Meanwhile, while the squash is cooking, wash the seeds, removing fibers of flesh, and place on a baking tray to dry. Remove baked squash from the oven and allow to cool. Pour the OJ into a blender, and scoop out all of the flesh into the blender, discarding the skins. Puree the squash, and then pour into a saucepan. Add about 6 cups of distilled or spring water (do not use tap water, as it contains chlorine etc which defeats your healthy mission). Bring to the boil and its ready to eat!

When the seeds have dried, bake them in the oven for 30 mins until roasted. Sprinkle on top of the soup and serve.

Enjoy!
